Good Bet for A Solo:

Hal Leonard is now publishing it's Master Solos (Intermediate Level) series with play-along CD's. The piano parts are also included for a live accompanist. These solos are listed as VBODA Grade III. The clarinet version is edited by Ramon Kirellis, who also performs on the CD demo tracks. If you have to work something up quickly, this is a great way to do it.

Using Clarinet Duet & Ensemble Books

One way to quicly prepare for Solo & Ensemble Festival is to grab a duet book. Here are VBODA gradings for some books that are commonly available:

RUBANK publications

• Selected Duets for Clarinet Vol. 1 (arr. Voxman)
  • Duets 1 & 2, done together, make a VBODA Grade I duet
  • Duets starting on pages 4, 5, 6, 23 or 27 are VBODA Grade II
  • Duets starting on pages 15, 18, 19, 20, 30, 43 or pp.50-65 are VBODA Grade III
• Selected Duets for Clarinet Vol. 2 (arr.Voxman)
  • Any complete duet is VBODA Grade IV
• Seventy-Eight Duets for Flute and Clarinet Vol. 1 (arr. Voxman)
  • Any duet beginning on pages 5-31 is VBODA Grade II
  • Any duet beginning on pages 32, 33 or 49-55 is VBODA Grade III
• Duetitst Folio for Clarinet (arr. Voxman)
  • Any two duets from #16 to #45 are VBODA Grade III
• Chamber Music for Three Clarinets
  • VBODA Grade III (any 5 pages)

• Learn to Play Clarinet Duets (arr. Eisenhauer)
  • VBODA rated--probably Grade II

• Langenus Clarinet Method (Part #3)
  • Duets #1, 3, 4, 5, 14, 17, 18 or 19 are VBODA Grade V
